Default Monk Heroes as Bonders

Hi. I've made a post in the other thread regarding this, but I guess it's more appropriate to start a new one since it's a different topic.

Has anyone tried setting up a monk hero as a bonder? I'd really like to try [wiki]Life Barrier[/wiki].

They don't work out well although they will but bonds on you when you start attacking and only on those attacking or taking damage.I would stick to active protection not bonding or barrier.

Hero bonding works fine in two situations: 1) there is no danger at all of enchantments being removed, or 2) you micromanage like crazy.

For 1, you don't really even need a bonder, just a basic prot would work fine, and for 2, well... that's not a very pleasant choice. Heroes are terrible at managing maintainable enchantments unless you disable them.

Heroes can use bonds fine if you micromanage them, but it is far better to just use monk henchmen and use your hero slots for damage.

Why are you guys all talking about microing your hero? Enter the zone, disable the bonds, force cast the bonds, kill everything. If you die you need to put them back up but other than that they maintain them perfectly.

For me, even if the bonds are disabled, the hero will at most only maintain four enchantments. If the hero has negative energy degeneration he will start dropping maintained enchantments when his energy hits zero even if he has skills to manage energy.

Thanks. Gotta keep reminding myself of enchantment removers.

So [skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill] won't be useful?

I found a hero monk can handle 8 bonds without too much problem. They are smart enough to spam blessed signet whenever it recharges, and have enough energy to fire off aegis and some other prot spells. Just need to flag them to the back of the battle. I wouldn't normally bother with a bonder monk though, since there are so many other useful things that slot could be doing.

Maintained enchantments are automatically drop when you have negative energy regeneration and reach 0 energy, not the hero fault. You just need to stop so they use Blessed Signet because if you're moving they wont stop to use it. Not worth the trouble to use bonder when other monk build work fine.

He doesn't drop them. The mechanics drops them. You can have 0 energy and have no pips alloting you still positive energy. Having negative regen and 0 drags you into negative. Mechanics drops the bonds untill you have 0 pips of energy. It happens to every1 not just heroes. If he has b signet or another source of e regen then he will auto cast it by himself if it isn't disabled.

Edit: Guess I should have scrolled down to see some1 already corrected you.
